Swimming for Pride

by Larry LaForge

This story is dedicated to college swimmers and coaches everywhere, especially those impacted by program cuts.

College swimmer Blake Wemberly and his teammates are devastated when their school announces it will drop its collegiate swimming program. Resentment and hostility are gradually replaced by commitment and pride as the swimmers strive to honor themselves and their dying program in their last hurrah.

The life lesson that Blake Wemberly learns about coping with change is chronicled in emails, letters, journal entries, and text messages starting on the day he receives the terrible news.

All characters, locations, and communications are fictional, but the story is motivated by true events.
