Cries from the Crypt
Short stories, never before released chapters from award-winning novels, advice for writers, book and film recommendations, author interviews and articles on horror. Cries from the Crypt is Adam L. G. Nevill’s companion to horror, exclusive to his newsletter subscribers.
Much of my small written contribution has been scattered far and wide on tiny blogs and horror websites. At least half of these sites no longer exist, and if they do still exist my contributions are buried so deeply in their archives they’re effectively moribund. So much of this book has either vanished into the void or will never be published by anyone again. Some of these pieces, I daresay, were also seen by very few eyes first time around. But I always con-sidered everything that I contributed out there, and tried to give it value to both fans of horror and aspiring writers. Cries from the Crypt is an opportuni-ty for me to keep some of my written material alive.
The order of the material roughly follows the publication history of my novels to date, from Banquet for the Damned to Lost Girl. The interviews all have an emphasis on the novel that was published at the time of the inter-view, but anyone who has ever spoken to me will know that I am a digresser, so each interview also features advice for writers, book and film recommen-dations, and my thoughts on the state of horror. So, mercifully for the reader, these exchanges are not just about me. I have written over 50 interviews for websites, magazines and publishers since 2008 (and they are all long), but I picked six favourites for this book.
