2 Free Ebooks by Emily Brontë
Emily Jane Brontë was an English novelist and poet who is best known for her only novel, Wuthering Heights, now considered a classic of English literature. Emily was the third eldest of the four surviving Brontë siblings, between the youngest Anne and her brother Branwell. She wrote under the pen name Ellis Bell. – Wikipedia
Wuthering Heights features topics that were unusual for Victorian female writers and was published under the pen name, Ellis Belle. Domestic abuse, romantic obsession, and generational revenge were prominent themes. Shocked reviewers were aghast at the singular nature of the novel, while modern readers note the complicated relationships and complex plot line. – LetterPile.com
Emily did not live to see her novel — and her poetry — reach the heights of recognition they now enjoy. She and her sisters had often been ill, due to the cold, damp climate of the moors they called home, a situation no doubt furthered by the poor living and working conditions the Brontës endured. Emily caught a cold which quickly led to tuberculosis, and after refusing medical help, died in December of 1848. – MyPoeticSide
