4 Online Tools To Train Yourself To Speed Read

4 Online Tools To Train Yourself To Speed Read

Immense yourself in the essence of the story faster and better…

Speed reading is tremendously valuable. You won’t even understand just how great it is until you try it out for yourself – it is simply the art of silencing subvocalization. Most readers have an average reading speed of 200 wpm, which is about as fast as they can read a passage out loud. This is no coincidence as it is their inner voice that paces through the text that keeps them from achieving higher reading speeds.

So why would speed reading work better than photo reading for someone who wanted to appreciate the actual words of the text, and the style of the author? Simply because speed reading is far closer to actual reading. Yes, you read several words or even an entire line at a glance. Yes, you scan through the matter rapidly. But the simple fact is that even though it’s so much faster, it’s still basically conventional reading, only perhaps three or four times as efficient. So it obviously works better when you need a more in-depth comprehension of the text that you’re reading.

That’s where speed reading can help. If you start speed reading, you can read more of what you want, and you’ll understand it just as well – if not better. If you have a book you would like to read, then you should definitely read it. Your reading speed doesn’t have to hold you back any longer.

Keep in mind, speed reading in general will give mixed results depending on a wealth of factors. Make sure that you learn speed reading in a slow and steady manner. Jumping to very high words-per-minute (WPM) will not solve the purpose. Different things work best for different people, but speed reading software has been found by studies to be the most effective, because it employed multiple-sensory techniques. Unlike an audio recording, or even a teaching video, interactive software is an immersive sensory experience, and so is much more effective than even listening to an instructor, or watching teaching videos.

Spreeder

Spreeder is a website that allows you to see how fast you can read based on different speeds that you can choose. Spreeder then flashes one word at a time, and you can zip through the passage in no time. Try the tool out and find what your maximum WPM is for more efficiency. It is also pretty fun to do if you get really bored and you cant find anything else to do. Spreeder is 100% free so if it doesn’t work, you’ve lost nothing but the time it took to play around with it.
